Art is the lie that lets us see the truth – Picasso

My thoughts for this year –

Each of us is an individual person.

I say to myself –

I breathe, I am aware of myself in the here and now.

I am aware of my surroundings, the objects, the space, the inside of the room, the halls, the expectations of school, culture, society, family and so on and so on ...

When I perceive the world with my senses– I project elements of myself in order to make sense of an otherwise chaotic world.

This where we put a layer of some kind of meaning, opinion, point of view to everything we experience. In fact, it is almost impossible to try and see the world without this matrix – try looking at type in a book without reading what it says...

Still, it is a meaningful challenge to become self aware of what is perception and what is interpretation. It will make you a more articulate artist.

One of the things that art does is combine motif, technique, and personal point of view to give the artist a way to share her/his way of viewing reality with others.

Sometimes it can change the thinking of a whole society!  The easiest example is perhaps Impressionist Painting which gave the world the idea of time as a flow of passing moments!
