Grading in Ceramics

Ceramic work will be graded when the project is glazed.

The project must have the student's name, date & period number on the base.

The student will have written a paragraph describing the work and why it's interesting.

The grade will be entered in skyward. It is up to the student to keep all the project notes until the end of the quarter. At that time they will be collected in a 'packet' and turned in to make sure our records match.

Even beginning students are advised to make a photo record of their work and to post it on line - either on a blog, or a photo sharing site.

Advanced students will make a web site/blog on weebly that will be linked to this one. They will upload images and comments weekly or as often as things are finished. It is a good idea to even upload images of works in progress. Students are encouraged to look at others blogs and leave constructive feedback. At the end of the semester Advanced students will make a formal presentation of their work from this site. (It will be about 7-10 minutes.)

60% of the grade is project, 15% notes and 25% class room participation and effort.

Students need to update their project notes daily and take care to keep their work space clean. Many people share the same space during the day and in order to make a inviting and creative space for all we need to work as a group to keep things in order.
